Michael Ricker Pewter introduced its first line of pewter collectibles in 1968. Each successive year since they began, Michael Ricker Pewter has produced an ever-increasing number of pewter castings. Each year over 250 tons of Old English Pewter ingots are melted down to cast Michael's limited-edition sculptures and other works-of-art. Today, the Casting Studio employs over 100 people. Over 250,000 individual pewter collectibles are made annually by the Casting Studio. Artus Van Briggle was the son of Eugene Van Briggle (name changed from the original Van Brueghel) and a native born American woman from Kentucky named Mary Bryan, born on March 21, 1869 in Felicity, Ohio. It was evident quite early in his life that Artus possessed unique artistic capabilities, and he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1886 to work at the Arnold Fairyland Doll Company where he painted faces on china dolls imported from France. Soon thereafter, he moved to the Avon Pottery until it closed in 1887.
